EPIC™ Universal JC & X

This information will help you get the maximum performance from your monitors, which will, with proper use and care, give you years and years of enjoyable service. It is important that you exercise caution and limit your exposure to extremely loud sounds. Noise-induced hearing loss is not detectable until after the damage has been done, but it is largely preventable. Please review our looking after your ears section of this site.

An audiologist or hearing healthcare professional can answer your questions about appropriate hearing conservation measures.

GENERAL

EPIC™ Universal Musician Monitors have markings to indicate the correct ear. The right headphone cord is stamped with an R while the left one has an L on it. The right headphone has a red socket and the left a blue one.

EPIC™ Universal Musician Monitors are shipped with super-soft flanged tips, which are installed and removed gently twisting the tip on or off the headphone nozzle. Two-flange tips are standard and are attached at the laboratory. Three-flange tips are also supplied with unit for larger ears. Use the ones that fit you best and give the best seal. Optional compressible foam tips are also available, and may be advantageous with very small ears.

Wearing your EPIC™ Universal Musician Monitors

We suggest that you first put the cord down in front, or over the shoulders and down the back, depending on your wearing preference. Then place each headphone in its ear, using a gentle, twisting motion if necessary to form a good, comfortable seal in the ear canal. You may find it helpful to spread one drop of Oto-Slik™ (an optional accessory available from 'the shop' or by phone) on each tip to make insertion easier. Now, with the volume turned down, plug the cord into your sound source and adjust the sound accordingly to your needs.

Removing your EPIC™ Musician Monitors

Hold each headphone by its body and move it down and back to remove from the ear. Do not remove them by pulling on the cord, because that can damage the cord. Roll up the cord and return the unit to its case.
